Erasmus+ in Ljubljana

In the second year of my master's degree, I spent the winter term of the 2023/2024 academic year in Slovenia as a student of the Faculty of Central European Studies (program Central European Field Studies). Signing up for the Erasmus+ program was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Ljubljana is the capital and largest city in Slovenia. Thanks to the small population, it seems more like a provincial town, and the advantage is that everything is nearby, and if not, bicycles are very popular in the town. Therefore, Ljubljana seems like a smaller version of Amsterdam. The fact that we kind of understand the Slovenian language can also be considered a positive, as it also belongs to the Slavic languages.

Faculty of Philosophy, where I studied in Slovenia, is located in the old part of the city. The university cares of its students, especially regarding the catering system, from which Slovakia should also take an example. I met a lot of new friends here from different parts of the world, whether they were Polish, Germans, Italians or native Slovenians. We became a very good group of students. We always had a program every week and weekend, until the beginning of November it was warm in the city, so we wandered around the streets of Ljubljana a lot.

During my stay, I visited Italy several times or a few places in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where you can still feel and see a country that was, not so long ago, demolished by war. In Slovenia, we visited the second largest city of Maribor or the city called Celje, several small but important cities on the coast. My family visited me in Ljubljana, with whom we chose to spend time by the sea in Italy, also in Slovenia.

I can only thank the Erasmus program, I improved my language skills, met many interesting people, get knew their cultures, tasted variety of food, traveled all over the Europe. I have new memories and friends for a whole my life. The experience in this program is priceless and exceptional for me. If you're still hesitating to apply, do it, you won't regret it for a second and the chosen country will become your second home.
