As students of Regional tourism, within our hotel management lesson we got the opportunity to take part in an excursion to Bratislava on 10th May. We visited Hotel Devín****, which is located directly in the historical centre of our capital city. From the hotel there is a beautiful view of the river Danube and also the Bratislava Castle.
On April 09, 2019, we attended the invited lecture about Current topics and trends in the hotel industry. The invitation was accepted by Ing. Jaroslav Kubaľa, PhD. At the beginning of the lecture he talked about how he worked his way up to the position of hotel director. He also told us about managing hotels and the ski resort at the same time.
On February 19th, 2019, we took part in a lecture on beer sommelier within the subject of sommelier. The invitation was accepted by Ing. Jozef Sivák who is the commercial director of the Erb brewery in Banská Štiavnica. They work with over thirty of the best hotels and restaurants in Slovakia.
On 5 February 2019 within the Introductory Sommelier course we got the chance to attend a lecture about Lyra chocolate - also called as brown gold. We were more than happy that Mr. Karol Stýblo, who is a Master Chef Chocolatier and also the owner of the Lyra chocolate company, accepted the invitation.
On 4th December 2018 second-year students of the Regional Tourism study programme, (Department of Tourism, Constantine the Philosopher University), within the subject of Basics of Hospitality participated in a lecture titled Managing castle hotel The Grand Vígľaš****.
On 30 November 2018, within the scope of the subject basics of hotel studies, we took part in a professional excursion in the Mercure Bratislava Centrum Hotel in Bratislava. The hotel is located in the city centre and is part of the AccorHotels group. Throughout the hotel we were accompanied by the deputy director, Mr. Štefan Gálik.
