Más o menos Erasmus en Almería, alias Erasmus in Spain
We can say that Erasmus in Almería was one of the best decisions we ever made. It is not the largest city in Spain, but it is a particularly charming, friendly and youthful city that brings people closer together. The international students here almost all know each other, made possible by the ESN (Erasmus Student Network) programs and the city's beautiful coastline - which serves as a meeting point for the Erasmus community.
As part of this wonderful group, we had the pleasure of experiencing the stunning sunsets of Cabo de Gata, exploring Pampaneira, Soportújar and Mojacar, and discovering the cities of Cartagena and Murcia. We spent an unforgettable weekend in Madrid and a day exploring Gibraltar and its famous monkeys. We climbed the hills of Aguadulce and spent five days in Ibiza and Formentera enjoying the nightlife. And best of all, we did it all with friends!
There were also many individually organized activities, such as a weekend trip to Seville. Thanks to Almería's excellent location, it was also common to "pop over" to Morocco for a few days, which of course we didn't miss.
Last but not least, we have to mention the differences in the education system. It was very interesting to see how a completely different system works in another country. At the University of Almería, the emphasis was on weekly group work and expressing one's opinion.
We had an incredible experience. It would be hard to choose a single favourite moment, we experienced so much together and we are very grateful for that. I wish everyone had the opportunity to experience this!
At the end all we want to say is "¡Vamos a Erasmus!".
