For the 19th time, students of the ELTE BTK Doctoral School of Linguistics organised the conference “Halfway“. This time it took place on 26-27 October 2023 in Budapest, at the ELTE Faculty of Humanities.

The Institute of Hungarian Linguistics and Literary Science of the Faculty of Central European Studies was represented by two doctoral students. Csilla Csobády held a presentation titled “Investigating the knowledge of place-names within a family in the village of Körtvélyes“ in the section on Language History and Onomastics. Anna Oros Bugár presented in the section on Linguistics and Education “The relationship between identity and language – Minority and majority identity in the teaching of minority languages“.

The conference was a great networking opportunity for doctoral students doing their research in the field of Hungarian linguistics. The presentations were followed by valuable comments and questions, which led to fruitful discussions during the breaks.
