Proceedings on New Approaches in Language Education
The recently published proceedings ’Novel Techniques and Approaches in Language Teaching (NoTALaT)‘ aims to shed light on new approaches in foreign language teaching. It was published by the Research Centre for Language Education (Rannsóknarstofa í máltileinkun) from Iceland and edited by Lenka Štvrtecká (Institute of Languages and Cultures of Central Europe, Faculty of Central European Studies CPU in Nitra) in collaboration with Branislav Bédi (The Árni Magnússon Institute for Icelandic Studies). The publication presents a diverse collection of studies and findings from experienced teachers from various educational institutions in Slovakia, Iceland, Finland, Norway and Canada, focusing on effective methods that contribute positively to the effectiveness of teaching, with particular emphasis on teaching mother tongue as a foreign language. The volume contains a total of 16 papers that contribute to the discourse on language education by presenting a diverse range of findings - from the use of adapted strategies for teaching a foreign language to young learners in online environments to the education of migrant or international students in both school and public language courses. These are complemented by self-reflective studies of educators who are experienced in foreign languages.
The proceeding is an output of the international project entitled Novel Techniques and Approaches in Language Teaching (NoTALaT) supported by the EEA and Norway Grants 2014-2021 and the State Budget of the Slovak Republic and are freely available here: https://malvis.hi.is/sites/malvis.hi.is/files/2024-06/Novel%20Techniques%20and%20Approaches%20in%20Language%20Teaching.pdf.
