Celebration and Tradition – 65 Years in Nitra
On 6 May 2026, the Faculty of Central European Studies of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra commemorated the 65th anniversary of Hungarian teacher education in Nitra in a ceremonial setting. The anniversary event took place in the concert hall of the County House in Nitra, where former and current lecturers, students, invited guests, and representatives of partner institutions came together to celebrate this significant milestone.
During the commemorative program, speakers reflected on the rich, six-and-a-half-decade history of Hungarian teacher education, highlighting its important role in higher education as well as its contribution to the intellectual and cultural life of the Hungarian community in Slovakia. On this distinguished occasion, commemorative medals were awarded to individuals and institutions that have made a decisive contribution to the development and continuity of Hungarian teacher education in Nitra over the past 65 years.
The formal commemoration was followed by a festive concert by the Hungarian University Choir of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, its soloists, and the Children’s Choir of the Primary School in Jelenec, providing a dignified artistic conclusion to the jubilee celebration.
The anniversary was not only an expression of respect for and recognition of past achievements, but also a reaffirmation of the faculty’s commitment to the future of Hungarian teacher education, further strengthening its significance in Nitra.
